WHAT IS TOEFL?

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) evaluates the English proficiency of people whose native language is not English.  Most U.S. universities require that international applicants take the TOEFL.  Generally a score of 61 to 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL (IBT),173 to 250 on the computer-based version, or 500 to 550 on the paper-based version is required for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs in the United States, with graduate schools expecting the higher scores.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TOEFL PBT TEST AND THE REVISED TOFEL PAPER DELIVERED TEST?

They are similar in many ways. Both tests measure 3 skills. There is no speaking component due to the technology required to capture speaking responses. Both the previous and the revised test are only offered in locations where testing via the internet is not available. The main difference is that the revised test is more closely aligned with the TOEFL IBT test. Institutions prefer the TOEFL IBT test because it requires test takers to integrate their skills — for instance, listen to a lecture, read a passage, and then write a response comparing the two. The revised TOEFL Paper-delivered Test also requires test takers to do this.

ARE MY TOEFL SCORES STILL VALID?

Yes TOEFL scores can valid up to 2 years after attending the test. After the expiration of date you won’t be able to access them online or send them to schools. The TOEFL score validity period is fairly short to ensure schools have accurate and current information about your English skills.

CAN I OFFER TOEFL PBT SCORE REPORTS?

Yes, you can order TOEFL PBT score reports if your scores are still valid. Find out how you can send additional score reports.
